Sample Illustrations

Here's an example of what you're getting when you have a character portrait done by carpegm.com.

Description: "My character's name is Sir Joe the Bold, a 5th level fighter whose father was a knight. Joe wears a bronze shoulder guard, leather breeches, leather boots, a red cape, and a green tunic. He fights with a sword and shield, and is bald."

Using the description above, I do a simple illustration.

Putting Joe's name on his belt buckle was a silly little last-minute addition that might or might not be included in an actual drawing. If the customer didn't like it, it would be removed, but I figure it goes well with the cartoonish style of a basic illustration.
     Now, a medium-detail illustration.

Description: "I would like a medium-level detail illustration made of my character, Sir Joseph of the house of Mulfiger. Joseph is a muscular, imposing figure who wears a bronze breastplate, leather breeches and boots, and a green tunic. He should be advancing menacingly towards the viewer brandishing a bronze sword and shield. His eyes are a shining blue, and his eyebrows black, but his hair is shaved, adding to his menacing appearance.

At this point Joe's looking pretty tough. What we have here is a average detail illustration. The only real distinction drawn between an average and high detail illustration is the color. With an average-detail illustration, the linework is finer, but the colors are still flat. A high-detail illustration has a more modeled appearance, with plenty of shading.

Order Form

And now Joe's lived up to his potential. Not bad at all, for a wannabe knight who can't grow hair. I sure wouldn't want to cross him in a dark alley without my lucky dice, I tell you that much.
